Flowers, Foraging and Creating a Field Guide
Join us in Holland during Tulip season!
Lauren will be leading us through local fields, backroads and flower farms
to gather plants and flowers and Kimberly will teach you how to capture
the beauty of the flora and surroundings in you own Field Guide with pencil
and watercolors (no experience necessary).
Learn simple folk remedies as we bike and walk in the local countryside and
document all of it in your field guide.
When we aren't foraging in fields or picking flowers, we will visit the
famous Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam to spend some time with the Dutch
masters and their paintings for inspiration and partake in a Canal Cruise
Throughout the week we will be making a "field guide" for
the recipes and curious details that Lauren shares.
Kimberly will teach you how to capture the plants in your
sketchbook with pencil and paintbrush. You will also learn how
to incorporate writing so the recipes and stories can be captured
alongside the drawings and paintings.
Each participant will be given a sketchbook and French market
backpack filled with the materials necessary to draw, sketch,
paint and illustrate your very own Field Guide. You can use the
backpack on your bike to tote you art supplies around during the
Some projects we may do back at the house are....
Create lovely bouquets of flowers at a "pick-your-own" farm

Make floral water with local flowers
Whip up salves with the plants we have collected in the region
